It’s good news that the City of Ottawa is planning to rehabilitate the Prince of Wales Bridge as a cycling and pedestrian link across the Ottawa River. City council should now also initiate the renaming of the 140-year-old rail crossing, so that someday soon, people pedalling or strolling between Ottawa and Gatineau might have the additional privilege of traversing, say, the William Commanda Bridge — or Chief Tessouat Crossing or the Algonquin Grandmothers Pathway or Pont Pakinawatik.
