A year-and-a-half ago, Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor were detained in China and two others, Robert Lloyd Schellenberg and Fan Wei, were given execution sentences for drug offences, all in retaliation for the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in Canada.
